A 42,000 Sq. Ft. Transformation: A Case Study in Event Space Design

Project: Banquet Hall
What started as a cluster of separate office units is now one of the most beautiful standalone banquets in the western suburbs of Mumbai. Designed to host everything from lavish weddings to high-profile corporate events, this 42,000 sq. ft. space is a testament to how vision and detail can transform a space.
Goldmine Project Consultants took on the challenge with precision and creativity, turning structural limitations into features and reimagining every nook with purpose.
A] The Challenges
This project had its set of challenges:
- AC Layout: Structural beams and firefighting pipes required us to drop the ducting below beam level without compromising on aesthetics.
- Ceiling Design: We created a coffered ceiling to integrate the existing beams and add depth to the space.
- Kitchen Constraints: The kitchen was limited to 3,000 sq. ft. and was re-engineered to be functional despite the space constraints.
- Water Storage: A dedicated tank was added to cater to water requirements for high-capacity events.
B] Style Meets Strategy: The Design Language
This project wasn’t just about looks. Every design decision served both form and function. The interior theme was semi-classical European, timeless yet grounded, and was brought to life through carefully chosen materials and architectural details.
- Coffered ceilings were used for visual interest and to navigate structural beams, AC, and lighting cleverly.
- A mix of Cappuccino Italiano, Bilasik Beige, and Breccia Onacita marbles was used in the lobby, banquet halls, and bridal suites.
- Gold leaf accents, mirror panels, and Venice Beige flooring were used in the transitional areas.
- The groom’s room, small lobbies, and common restrooms weren’t an afterthought. They were finished with the same attention to detail as the grand halls.
- Leather and fabric acoustic panelling were used to control sound, which is especially important since the space will host multiple events simultaneously.
C] A Space that Transforms to Fit Your Needs
This space isn’t just beautiful; it’s also super flexible. The main hall is divided into three ballrooms using German-engineered sliding partitions, each with its sound system. This allows for everything from intimate gatherings to large events to happen seamlessly under one roof. Lighting was customised according to the space as well. We opted for chandeliers, LED strips, and CDMT mood lighting to match the varied space requirements.
